Byeong Hun An and Brendan Steele share top of the leaderboard heading into the weekend at TPC Scottsdale. Steele fired a 4-under 67, including birdies on the final two holes to get to -10. An also birdied the final two, en route to a 5-under 66, joining Steele at -10. Martin Laird, Hideki Matsuyama, Sung Kang, and round one leader Matt Kuchar are all one stroke back at -9. Jordan Spieth made six birdies on the first 13 holes, before making bogey at 14 and double at 18, falling back to 3-under on the day, and -4 for the tournament. Phil Mickelson also started hot and finished cold, and like Spieth sits at -4 heading into the weekend. Fan favorite Andrew “Beef” Johnston made birdies on 17 and 18 to make the cut on the number, which came in at -1. Notables missing the cut included Danny Lee, Smylie Kaufman, Bubba Watson, and Justin Thomas, who had won his prior two starts.
